John Totten is well-known and well-respected in the Alabama legal system for his vigorous representation of his clients. He has been named as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in Alabama, as rated by the National Trial Lawyers, and holds membership in the American Society of Legal Advocates. John is a lifelong Alabama resident and is very active in North Alabama communities.
In 1999, John became associated with a Birmingham firm and began his practice in general civil and criminal litigation. He was involved in representing individual clients throughout Alabama, in both state and federal courts in every aspect of their cases. In 2002, he became involved with a large firm specifically engaged in the defense of municipalities throughout Alabama, as well as other professionals and individuals who were sued for monetary damages and wrong doing. John worked hands on in numerous wrongful death claims, as well as claims associated with serious physical injury and millions of dollars in damages. He also continued his practice in representing those wronged throughout this State and in criminal defense. Today, his office is in Athens, Alabama, where he has helped thousands of people in North Alabama with everything from family law issues, catastrophic injury and death cases to criminal defense.
John was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1999. He is also admitted to practice before all U.S. Federal District Courts of Alabama, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
